Lesson objective: To develop knowledge of an artist's work by planning a shoot in response to their work
Take a look at this photoshoot plan, what has been successful and what could be improved?
Now that you have researched the work of a second artist who you would like to be inspired by, you need to respond to their work. Because this project is photography based, the chances are that the artist who you've chosen to respond to is a photographer.
If you go on a shoot without having properly planned the photographs you plan to take you might not take the most successful photographs. You need to spend some time thinking about all the possibilities in terms of the equipment you'll need, the location you'll need to go to and what could potentially go wrong during your shoot. In other words, you need to create a photoshoot plan.
Task 1: Create a single slide on PowerPoint or Google Slides with the title Photoshoot Plan (and add the name of artist you will be responding to to the title). Make notes and add pictures to inspire you. You may use the sentence starters/sheets below or the template that I have created and add your own information.
Green (grade 1/2) Copy and paste and finish these sentences: • I will do the photoshoot…… (where and when) because………….. • The props I will need for this shoot are………. • My model will need to wear….… • The techniques I will use are……………. because………….. • The lighting will come from………… which will give me a mood of……….. • The dangers of this shoot may be……………. • I will need to ask permission for…………
Amber/ Red– Ensure that you have included the above information, but also add extra information about: - Camera settings - Compositional guidelines This could be a drawn mind map with thumbnail sketches or a set of typed bullet points under each heading. You might use the template I have attached here. (Look at the handouts and examples of plans to help you.)
Task 2: Convert your PowerPoint or Google Slide into a jpeg and upload your research page onto your site under the title 'Photo shoot plan'
