To get to your Drive, go to the Google Home Page (google.com) and sign in by clicking on the icon in the top right hand corner. Once you are signed in (using your school email address) click on the App icon in the top right hand corner which looks like a selection of squares. A list of Google apps will appear, including Drive. Click on Drive to go to the Drive Home Page. |
When you are on your Google Drive, in the right hand corner you will see the 'New' icon, click on this and select 'Folder upload' from the drop down menu which appears.
Now all you need to do is find your folder in the school shared drive and click 'upload'. This will save all of your work from school into your Google Drive so that you can access it at home. |
Uploading from Google Slides:
Be aware that any work which is currently in a PowerPoint, Affinity or Illustrator format will not open on your computer at home if you do not have that software on your computer. That's okay though, since the only thing you should need to upload are your PowerPoint files. You are able to open these as Google Slides documents from your Google Drive if you right click on them and select 'Open in slides'. From there you can either screenshot an image of work to upload to your Weebly, or you can save a new copy of your PowerPoint but this time as a Google Slide document by going to 'File' and then 'Save as Google Slides' when you have opened your work.
You can then link your new Google Slide document to your Weebly as a slideshow by following the steps in this video. You might like to consider putting all of your PowerPoint work onto the same Google Slide if you plan to show your work as a slideshow anyway to save yourself time. Uploading PowerPoint presentations:
Unfortunately you can't just upload a PowerPoint presentation onto Weebly, you need to prepare your Powerpoint by exporting the slides as JPEGs and create a slideshow of the slides, instead. This video can help to guide you through the process of creating a slideshow from your PowerPoints on Weebly. One big tip here is to make sure that you rename your slides after they have been converted (if you were uploading your contact sheets for the logo project, for example you might rename the slides 'lcs1' for logo contact sheet 1, 'lcs2' etc.) This is really important because Weebly gets confused if you have 2 images which are named the same thing on your computer. So if I had a file named 'Slide1' which was my logo contact sheet and then another file named 'Slide1' which was my logo mood board, Weebly wouldn't understand what I was telling it to upload where and would go through and replace all of your previously uploaded images. |

This video has some helpful tips and tricks, however not all of them are relevant to us because we don't work in sketchbooks. The main tips to remember are: - Take your work out of your portfolio - Photograph 1 A4 page at a time (or 1 A3 if it's an A3 page) - Photograph your work in natural daylight - Do not stand between the light source and your work or you might cast shadows over it. - Make sure that your phone/camera is parallel to your work or it will distort your image - Tap on the screen to focus your image - Tap on the screen and drag to alter the exposure of your photo - Use the timer to give yourself time to stabilise your hands - Crop and straighten your photos to ensure that there is no space around the edges. Using an iPhone to 'scan' your work: If you have an iPhone you can also use the 'Notes' app to scan images of your work. This is often easier than photographing, however sometimes the scanner can over expose your images (and make them lighter) so be sure the experiment with the colours after taking your scan to see if you can get them as close to real life as you can. After you have scanner your image, simply share it to your Google Drive and add it to your Weebly site from there. |

Once you have photographed your work, you need to upload it to your Weebly page. It is up to you how you would like to display your work - if you would like to spend time arranging the layout of your work and add annotations as 'text', or if you would like to have the work as one slideshow for each project that you have completed. The overall aim of your Weebly is to present your work digitally so that the moderator can see it easily when they are awarding you your GCSE mark, so think about how your work can be viewed in both a simple and professional way. You want to ensure that you are adding linked downloadable versions of your work to your website (as shown in the 'Uploading a PowerPoint video below) so that the moderator can see all of your work in a large format, if it's too small they won't be able to see all the hard work you've put into it and your marks could suffer. Here we have two useful videos, one which shows you how upload and edit your work as individual images and one which shows you how to create a slideshow featuring all of your work in one place if that is how you would like to display it. |
