You can change a font’s appearance by using styles such as:
1.BOLD letter lines are heavier (stand out) 2. Italic letters have a slight lean to the right (generally considered to be subtle and classy looking) 3.Underline is not used very often on CD covers - the text is more likely to be in a box of colour instead. 4. You can also stretch fonts or change the space (kerning) between letters to give a different appearance or weight. |
Task 1:
Download the sheet and annotate around the CD covers with the types of fonts used and why you think they have been paired together. You can work with the person next to you - this is just a starter task to get your brain in 'typography' mode. You annotations do not have to be in depth.
Convert your slide into a jpeg and upload your annotations to your Weebly page. |
Task 2:
Green (grade 1/2) Select at least 10 different fonts which you might like to use on your CD cover from 1001fonts.com - present them on one or two slides. You should choose 5 fonts for the name of your band (remember this should be the same band as you used for your logo project - so think about the genre of the band and the typography you used previously) and 5 fonts for the name of the album. Amber (grade 3) As with the green task, but choose 7 fonts for the name of your band and 7 for the name of the album. |
